CLOSURE

By Mr. David R. Dorrycott

1998

"Wha hit me" Merry asked, groaning as she turned her face away from the lamp.

"She'll be fine Officer" the medic announced. "A little rest, flush that tranq out of her system and she'll be her old self." He neglected to say that the double dose meant for Kristi had depressed the Chipmunks system, until only a thread had kept her breathing. A thread and several liters of pure oxygen. "I don't want her doing anything strenuous, like walking at least for twenty-four hours. After that she can gauge her own limitations.

"Gotcha" the skunkmorph police officer agreed. "I'll keep her at my place, just to be sure." She leaned

over, lifting one eyelid to expose a bloodshot eye. "There a 400 miler tomorrow anyway. I'm bettin DW wins."

Merry groaned, "Sold his team. Runs for Earnheart. Your ah joke Krissy. Gordon's gonna blow

everyones doors off like usual."

"She'll live" the skunk decided. "Come on Monica. Help me get party girl to her car. I'll need help gettin

her into bed but I'll drop you off at home later."

"No problem" her cute human partner agreed. "I'll follow in my car."

"It works?" Kristi asked, surprised.

"Yeah, just got it out of the shop this morning."

"Fine, you follow me then. I'll need the help."

"Get plenty of liquids in her, and I don't mean alcohol" the Medic cautioned as he began packing up.

Across town a certain vampire was unhappy, very unhappy. She glared at the agent, her temper almost at a boil. "You let ALL THREE get away?"

"What's the big deal. Their still around. You know they are going to come after you. Set your own trap."

"Do you know how close I was with that human? Another two days, two lousy days and she'd be mine. Forever. And you let her get away. Damn it, I'll have to start all over."

"I'm certain you'll have no difficulties" the agent snapped back. He pulled a thin envelope from his jacket. "Your next target. In payment we've brought in a mobile operating room. You get the skunk. We'll even descent her right there. No screw ups like last time. I'm in charge now."

She picked up the envelope, ripping open one end to pull out a single color picture. "Disney's favorite girl? She dying already. Why bother?"

"She said no to your current patron back when she was a hot item. He has a long memory. Is it a problem?"

Dropping the photo she stood, looking out the apartments huge window. "Nah, I'll do her tonight. All-right, I'll come back to Washington. But first I want those three. There's something about that team that makes me wet. They'll be a nice pony show when I'm through." She looked back at him, "And when I'm through with the furs you can give his wife the pelts. They'll go nicely with the mink, fox and rabbit I've already given her."

The agent nodded in agreement. "Tomorrow night then, my plant says the munk won't be going anywhere until then. I'll bet she won't wait a second longer. What about the human?"

"She's yours when I’m done with her. I know about those little barbecues you like to have. Mark your calendar, five years from now she'll be your guest of honor."

"Thanks." He looked at his watch. "Until tomorrow then." Turning he left, as the door clicked shut behind him the vampire turned to her bedroom door. From the other side came a muffled scream for help. To little, too late. "Rabbit tonight" she whispered, licking her lips.

"I still don't see how Martin won" Kristi bitched as she dealt out hard earned cash into Monica's hand.

"Me either" Merry responded from the couch, her own purse open in her lap. "Damn Monika, what are you going to do with all that money?"

"Oh, I have a wedding to plan. He'll break, pretty soon too" the human answered, slipping the cash into her well filled bra. "So what's the plan for tonight?"

Merry shrugged. "Your partners got it all figured out, and to be honest I can't find a flaw."

"Darn right" Kristi laughed. "Look. I'm way too well known for this job so I'll be outside in uniform with the raiding party. Your going in as Merry's owner. Look around, that damn killers got to be there. If not, someone that knows her is. Merry will be wearing part of that leather outfit of her's, I've got something in here we can fit to you but Officer Garcia is coming later tonight with the leash and restraints."

"Huh?" Monika asked. "I'm not into that bondage stuff. You'r NOT tying me up, you hear?"

"Not you snookems" the chipmunk sighed. "Me. I'm the animal, your the Genetic Purest remember? Oh yeah, Krissy? Better get started on her." She stood, "I gotta go take a long shower."

"Me? What? Huh?" Monika asked as Kristi started pulling her towards the bedroom. "GP's have this little tattoo, and their always clean shaven..." Kristi was saying as the bedroom door closed.

"YOUR WHAT?!" Monika screamed suddenly from behind the barrier. Merry, still slipping out of three day old clothing just giggled.

"I feel like a tramp" Monika complained as the limousine stopped in front of the clubs doors. "No place on either of us for a badge, much less a gun. And you..." She looked at the muzzled, bound chipmunk kneeling beside her. "Your just plain crazy." Merry winked, ignoring Monika's statement. To be truthful, she'd felt strange while Kristi had locked her into her 'pet' outfit. Something about the skunks touch had set her off. She shivered, thinking to herself she couldn't be attracted to a woman. It'd kill her career. And a skunk? Chipmunks had a very sensitive sense of smell. Kristi's sharp scent had taken getting used to. But live with it? No, it had to be the outfit, that was all there was too it.

The long white vehicle stopped, someone opened Monika's door and she stepped out, unconsciously jerking the leash hard. Merry gagged, rushing to follow. Slipping into character Monika snapped the leash again. "Come on you stupid animal" she snapped, almost pulling Merry onto her face. Four legged, tail high Merry trotted behind her human owner.

Kristi watched from several blocks away. Lowering the glasses she shivered. Merry had fallen into character, the sign of a good undercover officer. Monika was having a little trouble, but Merry was covering her by acting reluctant. "Damn it" the black officer beside her cursed. "And my people whine about things that happened over a hundred years ago. Shit, what do they think these purity people are? Angels? Oughtah make 'em all watch a video tape of that."

"Half would probably agree with Merrys position" Kristi commented.

"Yah, maybe. Tha other half would be too busy wankin off at the outfits. Shit, Equality. Mind if I bust some jaws in there?"

"Be my guest" an older male voice said from behind the two.

"Chief!" both officers gasped in unison.

"Yep. Now lets keep an eye out. And Kriss? Aren't you supposed to be in an alley right now?"

Kristi picked up her shotgun, this time it was loaded with solid slugs. "Yes sir, on my way sir." She vanished, leaving the glasses behind.

"Damn good officer" the black officer commented.

"Yep, sure is. Needs to get herself a boyfriend though."

"Ahm married Chief."

Behind her the conversation tapered off but Kristi was to far away to hear anyway. Her position was the back alley. Monika was to lure their prey there, then snap the quick releases on Merry's 'outfit.' Between the three of them they'd take care of one killer vampire. As she slipped into position between a dumpster and a parked panel truck she thought of the rabbit that had been discovered that morning. Ripped open just like Merrys friend, dumped in the same lake. And only a couple of hundred yards away from this club. She checked her weapon, jacked a round in, then carefully slipped another round into the magazine. Five shots, sometimes one round was the difference between winning and losing.

Hours passed, hours during which Merry, as the pet toy of her human 'owner', endured comments, touches, offers of purchases and blatant explorations of her body. She was sick, felt dirty and wanted to crawl into someone’s arms and just cry. But she had a job to do. Right now she was fighting off whatever it was someone had injected into her while Monika was distracted. With difficulty she managed to focus her vision. On the stage a fem rabbit was bound to some kind of framework. She was apparently being auctioned off. Legally this was slavery, but too many humans harbored a hate for furs. No one was going to come to the poor fems rescue. As they waited the rabbit was sold, released from the frame and dragged off to one of the back rooms by her new owner. This wasn't a club, this was a zoo.

"Pretty Toy" a voice said from beside her. Monika turned, a plastic smile on her face that melted as soon as she saw the speaker. "Back door, that way" the speaker ordered. Monika swallowed, seemed to be trying to say something, then turned woodenly and led her pet towards the exit.

"Shit" Merry realized, "She's still under the bitches powers and no way to warn Kriss." They passed through a double set of doors, then another and the night breeze hit them.

"Don't release your pet dear. I like her just as she is."

Monika shivered, "Yes Mistress" she whispered, defeated.

Suddenly Merry was looking into two cold emotionless eyes. "Your police friends are about to raid that club my sweet. But they won't find you two, no one will see either of you. At least not for five years. Your going to make my current employers wife a very pretty coat, and Monika there will be a succulent barbecue don't you think?" She stood. "The trucks open dear. Go check and make certain no ones in it will you?"

Monika, controlled but still fighting it, walked slowly towards the van. As she cleared Kristi's line of fire the skunk stood. "Fuck the warning" she cursed as she aimed and fired.

A heavy thump of the vampires body landing beside her was the only sound Merry really heard. Kristi had overloaded the round, looking up the chipmunk could see a huge hole in the clubs brick wall. Suddenly she was free as Kristi arrived and yanked the release. Standing Merry ripped out her gag, spitting. "Shit, trying to kill a surfer in California?"

"It's a thought" the skunk answered, kicking at the body laying beside them. "Monika..." she started to say when her foot twisted. There was a sound of snapping bone and she screamed, her shotgun sliding across the alley toward Monika as she fell. "What the..." Merry started as a hand reached for her. Leaping back she slipped into a martial arts stance, shocked as the dead vampire stood.

"What?" the dark winged woman asked with a smirk. "Thought you'd killed me?" She twisted Kritsti's left arm back savagely. There was a deep pop and a grunt from the skunk as she was flung aside like a rag doll. "All three, how wonderful. Congressman's Van Marker’s wife will be so pleased." Then she attacked.

Merry found herself in the fight of her life. It took every skill she had to stay alive. Neither one managed a critical blow, Merry's skill equally balanced by her opponents inhuman speed. Then she slipped, it was enough. Pain lanced through her as her enemy struck, fire leapt up her neck as fangs snapped home. A fire that filled her body so fast she barely had time to realize she was probably dead. For long moments the only sound was of feeding, then Merrys still breathing body slammed into the alleys muck. "Tasty, you'll be a pleasure to break. Monika, drag this animal to the van."

Monika whimpered, struggled. Something gave, then something else but still she moved forward as the vampire kneeled next to Kristi. "Now, lets see what skunk tastes like." Kristi swung her good arm, only to have it captured with ease. She struggled, but her arm was forced behind her back. Horror filled her as that blood caked mouth reached for her neck.

Another explosion filled the small area, black blood splattered against the building and Kristi found herself free. She dragged herself clear, to find Monika holding the shotgun. With deliberate care Monika reaimed the weapon. When it fired again the area between her targets legs vanished in a fountain of blood and bone. She smiled, a mad kind of smile, then shifted her aim again. Her third shot blew half the womans head off. "Die you fucking bitch" the human officer cursed, firing again, reducing the vampires chest to so much hamburger. She cocked the weapon again, but only a sharp click answered her. Dropping the weapon she fell to her knees crying as lights filled the dead end alleys mouth.

"Its only been three weeks, are you sure you should drive back?" Kristi asked.

"Nah, I'm takin ah mil-tans. Here's her keys, you take care of her. I've got a nice sweet 4x4 waiting for me as soon as my arm heals. I'll pick her up next Spring, until then you enjoy her okay?"

Kristi looked over at the copper colored four wheel rocket. "You bet. I'll be waiting for your visit, gotta get that body of yours on a beach."

Merry laughed, "Sounds like fun. I hear the guys around here are real hunks." Her tone became serious. "What's the word on Monika?"

"Doc says she's making great progress. Mostly its getting that whatever gunk is out of her system. Some kind of phyc drug that shatters the will. She'll be back on full duty in three weeks. I'd have brought her, but that damn gunk made her skin sun intolerant. She'd burn like a hot dog on a griddle."

"I understand. Too bad they burned that body though, I really wanted to see her in full light."

"Wouldn't have helped. Morgue says there wasn't much left to look at. My bets she's the one that killed that woman at Disney World too. Same M.O."

Merry nodded. "Probably, but why kill a wheelchair bound woman who's almost dead already. I guess we'll never know."

"Nope" Kristi pointed towards a fast approaching sedan. "Here's your ride. Take care. And don't be a stranger." She waited until the sedan left before turning to her 'new car.' "One bitching good officer' she thought to herself. 'Wouldn't mind working with her again.'

In the sedan Merry sat quietly. Something inside her felt strange. She already missed the skunk. Thinking about her last mission she shivered, maybe it was time to quit. Police work in a small town might be fun, a beach close by, tons of hunks hungry for fur... and the two officers would be great to work with. 'I'll think about it' she decided.
