The Assariah

A Species Creation

Researchers Comment:

To date no actual contact has been made with the Assariah. All data such as photographs, sound recordings and sample recovery has been done using camouflaged remote systems. With only fourteen years of continuos study of this new species little concrete information is known. Much is still conjecture. Archeological digs on four uninhabited large islands (Great Britain sized) have proven a wealth of historical material. Why so many large islands have become uninhabited is still unknown. No common evidence of impact, natural disaster or natural enemies has as yet been discovered.

Emfollat

The Assariah World;

Planetary Data:

Sun;

Gullltha is a G3 star, meaning though like Earth’s sun is has a mean surface temperature of 900 degree Fahrenheit cooler. A G3 star, being cooler than Earth’s sun has more sunspots, fewer outbursts of solar activity and a weaker solar wind. To the human eye it is more orange than yellow.

Planetary Primary;

Fashee Xa is a Jovian Supergiant (2.21x Jupiter Mass) with an orbital period of 318 days, one hour, forty two minus, nine seconds about its star. It has a (atomospheric) surface temperature ranging from -320 degrees Fahrenheit to +100 degrees Fahrenheit depending upon season, location on planet and planetary orbit position. Its Methane/Hydrogen atmosphere is in constant motion due to a eleven hour, nine minute rotational period thus it is able to transfer energy quite quickly about itself. This rotational speed also gives the planes a somewhat egg shape.

Planet:

Emfollat is one of the outer of some fifty-seven moons or moonlets that orbit Fashee Xa. It has a somewhat elliptical orbit and is obviously a ‘captured body’ though so long ago that its situation has become stable. Surface temperatures range from -280 degrees Fahrenheit +200 degrees Fahrenheit depending upon season, location on planet or planetary orbit position. A comfortable habitual temperate zone exists of some 1,300 miles from equator North to South though life is possible over most of the globe. Seasons are extreme and can swing quite quickly should Emfollat be fully eclipsed at the wrong moment.

Planetary Lifeforms;

Predominantly reptilian, mammals consist of only seven percent of animal life on the planet. Though in the past Emfollat was pounded by often continuous storms of meteors nothing like the extinction level event known on Earth occurred. There were always areas nearly untouched, though the skies are often ablaze few objects now make it to the ground. Most all larger objects were pulled in by the Jovian Supergiants more massive gravity well.

Still enough events occurred throughout the planets history that mammals were given a chance. Of those that evolved the most dominate was a mouse-like form. During its first hundred thousand or so years of evolution it, like humans, ran into dead ends, had near total extinction, odd successes and strange offshoots before finally evolving into what would one day be known as ‘Homo-Erectus.’

Homo-Erectus were apparently not the first to use fire, nor the first to create tools or weapons. They were simply the most successful at using these tools of the then existing three sub-species (Homo-Nadin, Homo-Erectus, Homo-Hodass) so far discovered. Within less than thirteen thousand years of its appearance Homo-Erectus apparently become dominate. Slowly the other two species seem to have vanished. There is archeological evidence of all three species living together yet currently no proof of cross breeding. Perhaps this simply wasn’t biologically possible. To date no examples of either of the other species can be found by remote sensors. It is assumed that Homo-Erectus simply out-competed its cousins. Wiping them out.

Social;

Mainly hunter-gather societies upon discovery, Homo-Erectus is a matriarchal society in that where settled areas have been found it appears that only female’s rule. No evidence exists of females hunting to date other than in very isolated instances. As they aere ‘always at home’ perhaps the males fell it easier that they handle ‘mundane chores of ruling’ rather than hunt, then decided who gets what. They were also very creative. Though limited to raw materials at hand all fragments of clothing and tools found are of high quality. Colours were used, mainly vegetable dyes though along sea shores some animal dyes are in evidence.

Basic Physical Data;

Homo-Erectus;

Average three feet three inches tall, bipedal, plantigrade (walked on their feet) long tail, five digit hands. Mottled fur covering of medium to long length.

Homo-Nadin;

Average three foot nine inches tall, bipedal, digitigrade (walked on their toes), short tail, five digit hands. Very dark fur covering of short to medium length. Somewhat smaller braincase.

Homo-Hodass;

Average two foot nine inches tall, bipedal however also at home on all fours, digitigrade (walked on their toes and hands), very long tail, five digit hands. Mottled fur covering long to very long in length. Much smaller and malformed braincase.

Religion;

Religious celebrations follow those style expected of such a low technology world. Temples built of stone rubble overlaid with a cedar-like log structure are noted in many of the larger settlements. As would be expected, these temples are dedicated to that great planet that dominates their sky. Three have been a few temples noted hat are dedicated to the sun. It is assumed that a complex system of minor Gods and Goddess’s exist, though as yet this information is extremely sketchy.
