Chapter One

“Your insane” Rebecca Feinstein shouted at the mask covered man across from her. “Sure I admit it I’m a criminal, a darn good one too, at least until you people got involved. So what? I keep track of all my crimes and the maximum punishment I can get right now even with a hard case Judge is thirty three years. Thirty-three years will be rough, but not impossible for someone my age.” She leaned back into the hard chair that they, whomever ‘they’ were, have provided for her. He shoulders ached because of the unconventional way she had been bound but the pain was still at an acceptable level, as a thief she kept her body in a very flexible condition.

“Thirty-three years Miss Feinstein?” the masked man across from the table repeated. His voice was modified by, of all things a kids monster voicebox. “Yes, in a typical prison Miss Feinstein you could manage quite easily but what about a Turkish prison?”

“Turkey?” Rebecca stood, though the chains locked to her bound wrists insured that she wouldn’t go far. ”I’ve never been out of New York city so why the hell would I be held in a Turkish cell?”

“Sit down Miss Feinstein” the man ordered, though his voice never rose one iota. “Why? Simply this. We owe a certain Turkish Warden a very large favor and you are quite beautiful, supple and young. You are exactly what he asked for in payment for what he did and honestly we think that you might even survive five years of his most gentle treatment.”

“That.. That’s illegal” the young woman gasped as she sat back down in shock. “You can’t do that.”

“Trust me Miss Feinstein we can, you see as of this moment Rebecca Feinstein does not exist. Every record of your existence has been destroyed already, say remember that volleyball trophy your team won in High School? A new plate is on it, one with your name missing. Believe me in this Miss Feinstein, we have spent over a year choosing you then hunting you down. Once we made our decision and had your real name we spent more time tracking down every bit of information about you. Even the photographs your parents had of you are gone, so are all those love letters you hid in your basement and the time capsule you hid in the corner of your back yard? All gone. Children really should be careful where they leave their diary and what they put in it.”

Rebecca’s face drained of all color, these people were serious she realized. Deadly serious. “Kathy, Elizabeth, Yuri?” she asked softly.

“Remain alive, for now” that voice answered. “For now Miss Feinstein. Their deaths though will be quite easy to manage if need-be. An auto accident, a fire at home, a drive by shooting? Maybe Kathy kidnaped by some sexual predator, I believe that is her greatest fear and they are everywhere, part of your job will be dealing with them, preferable terminally. You have such an excellent taste in women Miss Feinstein, all three are very beautiful as is Penny, whom you neglected to mention. All who’s departure from this world would be so very easy to arrange.

“Penny? Penny was in Middle School. I don’t even think she remembers me.” Rebecca complained, “We weren’t even friends.”

“But you remember her and that is what is most important. Isn’t it Miss Feinstein.”

That broke the young woman. Gritting her teeth she mentally cursed all these people, whomever they were. “All right I’ll be your super villain, at least until one of those hero’s out there breaks my neck for me.” She could mentally see the face behind that mask smile at her surrender.

“Very good Miss Feinstein. As long as you keep your word your personal prizes keep breathing. They won’t even know how close to a very messy death they came, now any questions before we put you to sleep for transport?”

“About six jillion” the young woman admitted. “For now though just one, why do you need me to become a super villain.”

“A very good question” the man admitted as a similarly masked woman came in. She was wearing a nurses uniform but that could mean anything, that hypodermic in her hand though could only mean one thing. “You see those same Super Heros, though most really are no more super than the mythical Batman or Daredevil, have been much too effective in keeping crime down in New York. On the one hand that is good and we like it. On the other, they are getting bored Miss Feinstein, and a bored Super Hero is a dangerous one. So our little group was tasked with the challenge of finding a new Super Villain. One who could threaten even the most powerful Super Hero, who we all know is not as near powerful as he thinks he is. Still, anyone who can throw tanks around as though they were toys is frightening.”

He paused as the nurse swabbed Rebecca’s bare arm with an alcohol prep. “We need you to keep them busy, at least until we can devise ways to insure that should any of them go rouge we, the normal people can handle the problem. In return when we no longer need you I give you my solemn word that you may follow whatever life you want, at least are still able to follow

“You mean a two by two by six foot plot of land” the black haired girl snapped as the needle entered her flesh.

“No Miss Feinstein, you see we already know that if you are successful that we will need you again and we will be putting too many resources into this project simply to kill off the results. We will talk more, when you next see me.”

Rebecca sighed, letting the drug do its thing. In minutes she was asleep so she never felt her binding removed, never felt herself carefully packed in a life support trunk, never felt the truck or aircraft ride. She simply slept.
