Chapter Four

Rebecca woke with a peppermint taste in her mouth, a sickening sweet peppermint taste. Reaching up to rub her eyes she smacked herself in the face, causing her to open her eyes in surprise. Looking around she discovered that it was the same bedroom, but different. For one there was a square table in what had been a clear space, for another the lighting was all wrong. It was twisted somehow toward the red end of the spectrum. Checking her limbs, then her body she discovered that she was wearing a fur covered full body suit. How kinky she thought, until she remembered, then she screamed.

That brought Pat in from the bathroom. She hurried to the bed, pulling an oddly designed chair from its place at the table as she did so. Sitting down beside the bed Pat reached under the covers and took Rebecca’s hand, paw, whatever it was now. Holding it she gently withdrew it from the bedcovers. “You’ll be fine Miss” she said softly. “It just takes getting used to.”

“I’m an animal” Rebecca sobbed, tears falling from her eyes.

Pat smiled in that strange way her face allowed. “You were already an animal, a primate. Now your primate and feline. Since your still plantigrade learning how to walk again won’t be too difficult but sitting will.”

“Why” Rebecca asked, her curiosity abruptly in full mode.

“Because you have a tail though it’s a short tail compared to mine. Why, you are almost disfigured with that stumpy little thing.” She reached back with her free hand, drawing her own long black furred tail into view. “Why look at this, I have a beautiful luxurious tail and your stuck with a pencil stub.”

Rebecca couldn’t help herself, she laughed and that made her realize something else. Before, she was barely a B cup, from the feel of things she was more a large C now. Lifting the covers she looked, still shocked at the fur covering her body now. Yes, C. Maybe even a small D. “Your husbands work” she asked, pushing the covers down.

“You’re a full C now Mam” Pat answered. “Maybe a little D at best. Yes, it was my husbands work but not his choice. It seems that the black suits decided that a really evil villainess should have a body to match. You’ll find, if you will get out of bed and follow me, that you have a more hourglass figure. Your going to miss that athletic figure of yours, I liked it better.”

Accepting what was and for the protection of those she loved Rebecca struggled out of bed. Her body was different, she felt a bit taller, her weight was all wonky yet she felt stronger. Accepting Pat’s help she made her way to the full length mirror. What looked back at her was not the woman who had looked back before she was put to sleep. She looked into the yellow eyes of a feline, a Bobcat to be exact. There was no mistaking that facial fur or the stripes or black tufted ears. “I can’t go back, can I” she asked, fascinated by how her feline mouth managed to form human words with only a slight accent to them then she realized that she still had human lips. That explained the how and why.

“No Miss, it is a one way street” Pat admitted. “If you tried again your brain would die.”

“Why do you two call me Miss, I have a name you know” Rebecca asked.

“Not anymore” Pat countered. “I kept mine, but then I’ll never see my family again. You might, or at least, your name will be heard by them, whatever name you choose that is. The Evil Villainess X robbed CitiBank today, things like that and Cat would be a really stupid name to use.”

“Reading my mind?” Rebecca asked.

“I saw your naked brain floating in the gel, so maybe I am” the smaller feline admitted. “It is a very well formed brain Miss.”

Rebecca shivered despite her furred covering. “That is something I don’t want to think about” she admitted. Letting her shoulders slump she turned around to face her companion. “What’s next” she asked.

“You need to learn how to brush and clean your fur, I’ll show you what to use and how. This time I’ll do your back, George usually does mine so your going to have to be inventive. Then you get dressed and meet your instructors. Dinner after then sleep, if you can.”

“We get to wear clothing? But you..” Rebecca pointed at Pat’s obvious state of nudity.

“I felt you would be more comfortable seeing me like this but I really would like to get dressed again. It wasn’t fun being ogled by the rest of the group when I was waiting to talk to you. Now, go back to the bed and I’ll get brushes and curry combs for both of us.”

Thus went her first ‘morning.’ Learning how to care for her new body, discovering that yes she was stronger, a lot stronger than she had been. Probably a lot stronger than the average body builder. Other than being a larger size than she used to wear the only real difference in the provided clothing, jeans and a blouse that could have come from her own closet was a hole in the back for her tail. Even the shoes, though several sizes larger than her original were off the shelf. “At least I won’t have to fall back on my pitiful sewing skills” she joked with Pat, but she was still trying to get used to her new center of gravity and the rather impressive weight that now hung from her chest. Thank God those idiots hadn’t decided that she needed to be an F or G size. By the time her ‘instructors’ arrived she was pretty much comfortable with her new body but watching Pat leave made her feel uneasy. Settling down in the one chair that allowed for tails, the one Pat had used, she prepared for the worst.

“What is the reason you turned evil” a masked woman asked.

“Someone shoved a cannon up my...”

“Please Miss Feinstein, Let us at least try to keep this clean” the woman broke in. “I am asking you to tell me what you would say to a Super Hero when he interrogates you and this will happen.”

“I want to rule the world?” Rebecca asked.

“Is that feasible?” the woman countered.

“Only if I was the only living thing on it” Rebecca admitted. “It probably takes a billion or more people to govern this planet. One person? Not possible. Besides, the world would always be in revolt against them and at eight to one odds it would never work.”

“So, we can cross out megalomania.” The woman seemed to be thinking. “Are you human or alien Miss Feinstein.”

“Human.”

“No Miss Feinstein” one of the men present corrected. “You are an alien just like Pat, your DNA is much like humans yes but you are incompatible with anything that currently lives on the planet. Certainly no feline child was every reported or appeared in photographs anywhere but the super market tabloids Remember that Miss Feinstein, you must pass yourself as an Alien for the rest of what we hope will be a very, very long life.”

Rebecca snorted. “What makes you think I’ll be alive six months after you toss me out there. Razor for one likes to find legal reasons to kill his opponents. I think that Panther and Rice Monkey do pretty much the same, though not as often.”

“We would very much appreciate it if you would neutralize those three first” a third member of the four person team said. “Not kill, we are now certain that though you can kill it would take extraordinary circumstances for you to do so.”

“So what is neutralize” she asked carefully.

“Super Hero’s my dear Lady, derive their powers from a unique DNA sequence that the average person simply does not have, or has only half of. We will supply you with a drug that will, over days, damage that DNA sequence throughout their bodies. It is a virus but it can only be transferred by direct injection to the bloodstream. Like your new body the change is irreversible, it is also quite painless, at least physically. There are seven ‘Super Heros’ that we would like you to neutralize. Only seven because they are the madmen of the groups. The rest? Simply run them in circles, set up actions that they can defeat without endangering yourself.”

“Keep the kids busy you mean” Rebecca countered. “And if I don’t people I love start having really nasty deaths, don’t they. Then when its all over I get neutralized too, only mine will involve a furnace somewhere.”

“That was all a lie” the one woman admitted. “We are a secret society working directly for the Government but unlike the FBI or CIA we have morals. We never hurt children and we answer directly to the President. To answer your last question, no. You won’t be neutralized because to do so would kill you and we do our absolute best not to kill anyone. There is also the probability that we will need you again, you see it is, I fear, rather difficult to re-animate a corpse.”

Rebecca grimaced as best as her new face would allow. “Then all that about my nephew was made up? That takes a sick mind you know.”

“Yes it does young lady and the sick mind was one Trevor T. Letterman. The boy... That was the agents older brother when he was very young. We had to know what it would take to set you off, a great deal we were very happy to discover.”

Rebecca put her face into her open hands and sobbed. “You threatened me” she said through her tears. “You made me think... I’m out of here.” She stood abruptly, still crying while heading for the door and very surprised that no one tried to stop her. Only when her hand was on the doorknob did the woman speak again.

“And where will you go Miss Feinstein” she asked. “What will you do? Who will you turn too. What kind of life will you have? And do not forget those that you love, they are adults so they are acceptable targets. It is amazing the amount of damage a human body can absorb and still live.”

“I was a criminal when you caught me, I’ll return to being a criminal” she answered, turning the knob. “They can take care of themselves.”

“And how will you hide Miss Feinstein? We will support you, materials, money until you are able to... acquire your own. We will even give you the best lawyers every time that you are captured but if you step out that door Miss Feinstein. To start with it is over two hundred and sixty miles to the nearest tiny town. But in what direction? Yes Miss Feinstein, with your modified body you just might die with a hand on a doorsill, but nothing better.”

Rebecca opened the door, looking out. There was no guard. No alarm flashed. She could just leave, but.. Quietly closing the door she turned around. “At least kiss me first” she told the older woman.
